Christmas Fair

Christmas Fair, Wednesday 21st November, Village Hall, Figheldean

Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of you hardy souls who turned up to our Christmas Fair on 21st November, despite the pouring rain and almost gale force winds.

You will be delighted to know that it was a huge success, raising the magnificent sum of £2,200.

I would also like to thank the stallholders for braving these treacherous conditions, they just did not want to let us down. It proved to be a wonderful social opportunity to renew friendships and catch up on news from the various villages around – oh yes and there was a lot of retail therapy going on as well!

Curry Lunch – The Goa Balti

Sunday 14th October 2012, Goa Balti, Everleigh.

So many of you turned up to The Goa Balti for our annual Curry Lunch, one hundred and ten of you in total, it was full to bursting. There were so many familiar faces that it was almost like a family party, all we needed was a piano and I am sure there would have been dancing in the aisles!

What a wonderful atmosphere, the food was excellent and to top it all we raised an amazing £903.

Thank you, thank you to everyone – there’s just one thing left to say – See you next year.

Here are some photos from this fabulous event.

Coffee Morning

Coffee Morning, Monday 14th May 2012, Village Hall, Collingbourne Kingston.

Thank you to all the hardy souls who braved the dreadful weather and the electrical problems to come to our Coffee Morning on 14th May.

The plant stall proved to be so popular that sales continued for several days after the event, with the final figure reaching the staggering sum of £820.

At this point we would like to say a huge thank you to Peter Bell, who provided the plants that were on sale, manned the stall and gave all proceeds to Cancer Research UK.

The Court Jeweller

The Court Jeweller & Canapes, Friday 16th March 2012, The Bouverie Hall, Pewsey.

What a wonderful evening we had. David Thomas MVO spoke passionately and with huge pride about his twelve years as the Court Jeweller. It was his responsibility to maintain the Royal Collection in pristine condition, ready to be worn at any time.

The term Crown Jewels denotes the regalia and vestments worn by the sovereign of the UK and includes crowns, sceptres, orbs, swords, rings, spurs and the royal robe.

The Collection was begun in 1661.

It was a fascinating and informative talk – did you know that the arms of the Crowns can be dismantled for cleaning, or that the band going round the head can be worn individually as a tiara?

Or even that old ermine is used to seat the Crowns, because it would have aged to the traditional cream colour.

Judging by the feedback we have received it was an extremely successful evening and we raised the magnificent sum of £1220.
So THANK YOU to everyone who came to Pewsey and supported us.
